Ain't No Telling (Charades for the Culture)

Ages - 8 and up

The goal of the game is to get your teammates to correctly guess the word on the card by acting out the word (see Acting Rules). 

You can either play with two teams
with participants divided evenly or you can play as individuals if you have a
smaller group. As the the word is acted out, the teammates (or individuals) shout out as many guesses as they want.  When the entire phrase as exactly written on the card is correctly guessed (no partial guesses), the actor moves on to the next card.

Each word that is correctly guessed is a point for your team.  If playing as
individuals, then the person that guesses the word gets the point.  

A round lasts one minute.  During that time, the actor acts out as many
words as possible.

If your team cannot guess the word,
it may choose to pass to the next card. 
At the end of the round, the score should be reduced by one point for each clue that was passed. [Gameplay option] You may decide to play “no pass” which means that the team must continue guessing until they get it right or the timer expires.

If the actor violates one of the Acting Rules, the card is automatically passed
and one point is deducted from the total.  If playing as individuals, no deduction occurs and the actor moves on to the next card.

You can choose to play up to a
certain score (such as 10 total correct) or for a set number of rounds.

You need a timer (you can use your phone or watch) and pad of paper to keep score. You can also download the Buzzuh! app on your mobile device.  The Buzzuh! App is available on both the iPhone and Android devices in the app store. No activation code is needed (just hit enter to bypass)

Acting Rules

No Talking or Sounds. Absolutely
no verbal communication or sounds are allowed.

No Mouthing Words. Do not mouth the word or phrase

No Pointing to Objects. Do not point to any objects in the room that might give away the clue

Common Charades Gestures

Book/Movie/Song Title:
Crossing arms over chest (for a book), making a rectangle with hands (for a
movie), pretending to sing (for a song).

Short Word/Long Word: Use hands to indicate length.

Number of Words: Hold up fingers to indicate how many words are in the phrase.

"Sounds Like": Tug on your ear.

"On the Nose" / "Exactly": Point to your nose.

Plurals: Make an "s" shape with your hand.

Past/Future Tense: Point over your shoulder for past, point forward for future.

Return & Exchange Policy

If you are dissatisfied for any reason with your purchase, please contact us. You have 30 days from the delivery date to return your purchase. You will be given a refund minus the shipping cost back to the method of payment on file, or a replacement item; depending on the circumstances of your return.
